How to Care for Your Reed Diffuser?

Jul. 08, 2022

Reed diffusers are becoming an increasingly popular way to scent your home, as they are available in a variety of scents to provide you with a clean and long-lasting fragrance.

Using a reed diffuser couldn't be easier! They consist of three parts - a glass bottle, fragrance oil, and some wooden sticks. To use them for the first time, simply remove the stopper from the bottle (if there is already oil in it, if not, pour the liquid into it), insert the wooden sticks until they are saturated with fragrance oil, then remove and take them out, turn them upside down and put them back in the bottle - that's it!

Reed diffuser tips

If you have never tried this before and are wondering if you want to change your usual method of home fragrance, follow a few tips to ensure you get the best results from your best reed diffuser.

When you decide where to place the bottle, try to keep it away from any drafts or radiators. Too much breeze or heat can cause the liquid to evaporate too quickly, which means the diffuser will run out of scent faster than it should.

You can control the amount of scent released from a reed diffuser by changing the number of sticks used. More diffusion sticks mean more scent is released. If you are using it in a small area, try not to use too many.

You can simply flip the sticks to refresh your scent. All you need to do is remove them from the bottle, turn them upside down, and replace them. Remember to wash your hands and wipe off any fragrance oil that may have dripped onto your surface.

They are designed to be left alone for 4-6 weeks with minimal supervision and if you follow our tips, you will get the best results from the diffuser.

How to Care for Your Reed Diffuser?

here are some tips to help you get the most out of your reed diffuser.

  • Don’t use bamboo rods. The channels in bamboo are separated by nodes, which block the oils from traveling all the way up the bamboo. Use the natural reeds that come with your diffuser instead of bamboo.

  • If you want to increase the strength of the fragrance, add more reeds to the diffuser. Keep in mind that this will mean the oil is absorbed at a faster rate, so you’ll have to replace it more often.

  • Once the aroma starts to fade, flip over the reeds to expose the more saturated ends. Do this over a sink or trash can to catch any oil drips.

  • If you notice your reed diffuser is getting low on oil, let it evaporate completely before refilling. It’s better to start with fresh oil than to add it to old oil. Wash out the bottle with a bit of soap and water and let it dry completely (otherwise the water will dispel the oil). Then, refill the bottle using fresh oil and add new reeds to it.

  • Similarly, do not mix the fragrance oil with water to try to dilute it and make it last longer. The oil and water will separate and cause the reeds to bend.

  • Place your reed diffuser in an area with good air circulation, such as a high-traffic hallway, to get the most fragrance out of it.
